Friedrich Neubauer calls this picture “Flight”. However, it has also already been called “Development of Peace”. The dove of peace taking off in the foreground could also be considered to be an airplane. This ambiguity is probably intended by the artist. Neither dove nor airplane can reach the eagle, a heraldic animal. The contrasty forms in the upper half of the picture do not seem to be bound to any interpretation. They are placed in the image space like a menace. Their interpretation is left to the spectator.
